This is the story of a young boy who steals a book (actually called The Neverending Story) from a mysterious man who owns a bookstore. The story, for the most part, takes place in Fantastica and is rife with adventure. The popular movie was based off of this book. Late elementary or early middle school students could read the book and then watch the movie, writing a comparison/contrast essay afterwards as an extension activity. Ende, Michael. (1997).
